The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) has announced the issuance of its first individual securities investment advisor license under the Capital Market Service Providers Licensing and Supervision Directive No. 980/2024. The license has been granted to Mr. Habtamu Eshetu Gebre, a distinguished professional with a Master of Business Administration from Addis Ababa University and 25 years of experience in teaching, research, and consulting. For the past 11 years, Mr. Habtamu has successfully managed his own business development and management consulting firm.
In addition to his academic credentials, Mr. Habtamu holds certifications in financial markets and professional management competence. He has provided consulting services to various public and private entities, particularly in facilitating access to finance from the banking sector.
Dr. Brook Taye, Director General of the ECMA, commented, “We are proud to issue Mr. Habtamu a securities investment advisor license. This reflects our commitment to fostering a robust capital market in Ethiopia and providing investors with access to reliable and knowledgeable professionals.”
