The Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) has officially admitted Prime Capital S.C. as a Trading Member, expanding the number of licensed intermediaries on the country’s organized securities market to eight.
The admission was marked by a certification ceremony held on the Exchange Trading Floor after Prime Capital successfully obtained its license from the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) and fulfilled ESX’s membership requirements. During the event, the firm received its official Trading Member Certificate, confirming its readiness to operate on the exchange.
As a certified Trading Member, Prime Capital S.C. is authorized to execute securities transactions on behalf of clients through the Ethiopian Securities Exchange. The addition of the firm is expected to broaden access to brokerage services, improve investor participation, and support market liquidity as Ethiopia’s capital market continues to develop.
Speaking at the ceremony, ESX Chief Executive Officer Tilahun E. Kassahun (PhD) said the admission represents more than the addition of another trading member.
“Today’s certification of Prime Capital S.C. reflects the steady progress of Ethiopia’s capital market and the growing ecosystem of institutions committed to its development. Strong and capable intermediaries are fundamental to building a vibrant, transparent, and efficient marketplace, and we are pleased to welcome Prime Capital S.C. to the Exchange,” he said.
The exchange said the admission reinforces its commitment to building a resilient capital market ecosystem supported by qualified intermediaries that meet high professional, operational, and regulatory standards.
ESX added that it will continue expanding its membership base to strengthen market confidence, improve investor access, and facilitate long-term capital formation in support of Ethiopia’s economic development.
