The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) has approved the registration of securities of Zam Zam Bank S.C., comprising five million existing shares already held by shareholders and one million new shares approved for offer, marking another milestone in the development of Ethiopia’s capital market.
In a public notice issued on July 06, 2026, ECMA announced that on June 29, 2026 it approved the Registration Statement of Zam Zam Bank S.C. and registered five million (5,000,000) shares already held by shareholders and one million (1,000,000) new shares approved to be offered to existing and new shareholders.
The registration was conducted pursuant to Article 4 and 29 of the Public Offer and Trading of Securities Directive No. 1030/2024, which requires all securities, unless expressly exempted from registration, that are offered or sold to the public to be registered with the Authority. Issuers are also required to register securities held by their shareholders prior to the issuance of the Directive.
ECMA stressed that the notice is published solely to notify the public of the registration of securities by the Authority and shall not be construed as an endorsement of any offer, offer to sell, or a solicitation of an offer to buy any securities. The registration is a regulatory requirement and does not represent an endorsement of Zam Zam Bank S.C. or its securities.
With the registration of its securities, Zam Zam Bank S.C. joins the growing number of institutions preparing for participation in Ethiopia’s newly established capital market as the country continues implementing its public securities issuance and trading framework.
