Uganda Airlines has officially welcomed the first of two newly leased aircraft into its fleet, marking a strategic move to address growing capacity constraints and strengthen regional operations.
The airline announced the arrival of a Boeing 737-800 aircraft registered as ET-APJ, becoming the first phase of a short-term fleet expansion program aimed at supporting increased demand across its network.

According to the carrier, the aircraft will help ease pressure on existing operations while improving schedule reliability and operational flexibility. The move comes as Uganda Airlines experiences rising passenger traffic on regional routes and seeks to maintain service efficiency.
The Boeing 737-800 is expected to support both passenger and cargo operations, particularly on high-demand regional destinations. Uganda Airlines said the additional aircraft will allow the airline to optimize fleet utilization as it continues expanding its footprint in East Africa and beyond.
The second leased aircraft is expected to join the fleet in the coming weeks as part of the airline’s broader strategy to stabilize operations and support future growth plans.
