Kifiya Financial Technologies says its AI-native financial infrastructure has enabled more than ETB 100 billion in uncollateralized credit through partner banks, reaching more than 815,000 MSMEs, smallholder farmers and agri-MSMEs in Ethiopia.

Kifiya said its platform combines alternative data with AI-driven risk assessment to help financial institutions identify borrowers who may otherwise remain outside the formal financial system.

The approach is designed to make underserved businesses and individuals more visible and financeable, allowing banks to extend credit without relying solely on traditional collateral requirements.

The company said the financing has supported businesses expanding their operations, farmers investing in their livelihoods, women entrepreneurs building economic independence and first-time borrowers gaining access to formal financial services.

Kifiya’s lending ecosystem includes the Mastercard Foundation and partner banks such as Cooperative Bank of Oromia, Bunna Bank, Wegagen Bank, Amhara Bank and Enat Bank, among others.

According to Kifiya, the milestone also supports the National Bank of Ethiopia’s broader push toward a more inclusive and digitally enabled financial system.

The company said the ETB 100 billion milestone represents a foundation for expanding access to finance in Ethiopia and eventually across other African markets.
