The Ministry of Industry, in partnership with Ethio Telecom, has officially launched “E-Tamirt,” a modern B2B e-commerce platform designed to connect manufacturing industries and accelerate their transition into digital commerce.
Speaking at the launch event, Minister of Industry Melaku Alebel said the platform will play a crucial role in helping manufacturers source inputs more efficiently and access cost-effective products for both domestic and African markets.
He noted that a manufacturing sector without modern marketing and digital systems cannot thrive, stressing that E-Tamirt will significantly support increased production capacity, foster innovation, and enhance Ethiopia’s sustainable international competitiveness.
The Minister added that e-commerce is vital to Ethiopia’s shift from a consumption-driven economy to a manufacturing-focused one, highlighting its role in boosting the competitiveness of locally produced goods and reducing reliance on imports.
Industry representatives also welcomed the initiative, saying the platform will ease market and supply-chain bottlenecks, improve the competitiveness of domestic industrial products, and revive optimism in the manufacturing sector.
