Dashen Bank announced that it has disbursed more than Birr 20 billion in loans through the Telebirr platform, marking a significant milestone in Ethiopia’s expanding digital finance ecosystem.
The achievement comes through Dashen Bank’s partnership with Ethio Telecom, which launched digital lending services on Telebirr in August 2022. The collaboration introduced products such as Mela, Endekise, and Medaresha, designed to provide customers with quick, convenient, and secure access to credit.

According to the bank, the digital lending initiative has delivered substantial outreach over the past four years. More than 3 million borrowers have accessed loans through the platform, while over 13 million loan contracts have been processed.
The bank stated that the milestone reflects growing adoption of digital financial services and highlights the role of technology in improving financial inclusion across the country.
