Awash Bank has reported a gross profit of 40.7 billion birr for the 2025/26 financial year, according to the bank’s annual performance report, marking its first full-year results since listing on the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX).
The bank announced that total deposits reached 467.8 billion birr, while total assets climbed to 622 billion birr and paid-up capital increased to 38.5 billion birr, underscoring continued balance sheet growth amid Ethiopia’s ongoing financial sector reforms.
The results build on an already strong performance in the previous fiscal year. In 2024/25, Awash Bank reported 18.7 billion birr in profit, alongside 358.4 billion birr in deposits, 442.6 billion birr in total assets, and 27.9 billion birr in paid-up capital. Compared with those figures, deposits grew by roughly 31 percent, total assets expanded by around 41 percent, and paid-up capital increased by nearly 38 percent.
The performance comes only months after Awash became the third commercial bank to list on the Ethiopian Securities Exchange, following Wegagen Bank and Gedaa Bank. The bank listed 37.9 million shares on the ESX Main Market under the ticker symbol AWAB in April 2026.
