Ethiopian exporters and Chinese importers have signed 33 business-to-business agreements valued at more than $340 million during the “Export to China” forum, according to the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration.

The agreements were signed at the launch of the forum, organized by the Ministry in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia. The event brought together senior government officials, Chinese importers and Ethiopian exporters to strengthen trade ties and expand market access for Ethiopian products in China.

Trade and Regional Integration Minister Kassahun Gofe (PhD) said the forum aims to deepen Ethiopia-China economic relations by connecting Chinese buyers with Ethiopian producers of agricultural and industrial products and facilitating large-scale purchases.

The agreements cover key export products including coffee, sesame, soybeans, textiles and minerals. The government expects the deals to boost export revenues by creating wider market opportunities for locally produced goods.

Minister Kassahun described the forum as an important platform for advancing the “sustainable and comprehensive strategic partnership” between Ethiopia and China and promoting deeper trade and economic integration.

Chang Hui, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Foreign Trade at China’s Ministry of Commerce, reaffirmed China’s commitment to expanding bilateral trade. He said Chinese importers are prepared to purchase high-quality Ethiopian products at scale and support the development of a sustainable trade relationship between the two countries.
