Three major Ethiopian institutions—Dashen Bank, Ethio telecom, and ETTA Solutions—have jointly launched Zoorya, a new digital platform that integrates core business tools into a single system. The platform brings together Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Point of Sale (POS), and Cash Register functionalities, aimed at modernizing business processes across multiple sectors.
What Is Zoorya?
Zoorya is a cloud-based automation system designed to help Ethiopian businesses manage their operations digitally. The platform consolidates inventory management, financial reporting, sales transactions, and regulatory compliance into one ecosystem.
Key components include:
- ERP for managing procurement, finance, HR, and inventory
- POS for recording sales and accepting various payment types
- Cash Register functionality integrated with fiscal receipt issuance in line with regulations set by the Ministry of Revenues
Who Is It For?
The platform is targeted at enterprises operating in:
- Hospitality
- Import/Export
- Retail
- Manufacturing
It’s built to simplify how these businesses handle multi-branch operations, tax documentation, inventory tracking, and customer payments.
Technical Highlights
- Businesses can set up the system in under a minute, according to the developers.
- Built on Ethio telecom’s TeleCloud, the system is scalable and supports growth from a single branch to nationwide operations.
- Supports all local and international payment cards, and is fully integrated with telebirr, expanding accessibility across a large user base.
- Provides a single digital receipt summarizing all payment types and transaction details.
Institutional Roles
- ETTA Solutions developed the platform’s software and technical infrastructure.
- Ethio telecom provides cloud hosting, payment integration through telebirr, and will coordinate merchant onboarding and distribution.
- Dashen Bank is responsible for foreign currency facilitation to import the required devices, and will offer a Buy Now, Pay Later model to support service providers. It also integrates its own digital payment services into the platform.
The system is part of a broader push to support Ethiopia’s digital transformation agenda, particularly in encouraging cashless transactions, improving business formalization, and enabling data-driven decision-making among SMEs.
Zoorya marks a significant milestone in Ethiopia’s move toward a more digitized economy. While its effectiveness will depend on adoption, training, and infrastructure support, it represents one of the more integrated efforts to streamline business operations at scale using local expertise.
